Agency Bowls for Local Student Causes

When Clients call, Spiro & Associates answers. And for the second consecutive year, Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida challenged The Brand Architects™ to participate in Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida’s Bowl-A-Thon fundraising event, hosted by HeadPinz Entertainment Center in Fort Myers.

Chris of Death LogoSo naturally, Agency staff ditched their blouses, button-downs and polos for authentic bowling shirts marked with a most-intimidating skull and crossbones and a play on words, Chris of Death, to represent a team name. Some players went all out — even getting nicknames embroidered onto their shirts and donning red bandanas for extra impact.

As Spiro team members got their game on, they interacted with local businesses, snapped some photos for social media and cheered each other on — be it for spares, strikes or even those famous gutter balls that prompted the busting of many chops. And in typical Brand Architects fashion, everyone enjoyed a smorgasbord of pizza, wings and plenty of nachos to go around.

But one of the Agency’s most celebrated moments was, once again, taking home the title of “Most Spirited Team.” This was quite an achievement, considering there were eight teams of over 70 bowlers. We were awarded with gift cards, T-shirts and our personal favorite — bragging rights!

Our undefeated title and highly aggressive team name must have really done the trick, as our Client was so frightened that they their bowling scores seem to vanish into thin air — hmmmmm …. In that case, we will proclaim ourselves the winner!

The Heart of the Matter

In all seriousness, though, this night of team building and friendly competition allowed Spiro & Associates to join colleagues, neighbors and friends in a philanthropic mission that is far larger than any numbers on a scoreboard.

The Brand Architects alone raised $750 to help Junior Achievement provide work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs to 11,000+ local students.

Like many other efforts put forth by the Agency in its 30-year history, this one hits close to home. Not only has entrepreneurship been a profound part of President Christopher Spiro’s journey, but he often teaches classes at colleges throughout the region and high school students at our own Fort Myers headquarters. Maybe even more importantly, every staff member who has ever represented Spiro & Associates was once a student — some still are — and received some sort of emotional and/or financial support from someone else. Now, it’s our turn to live by the Golden Rule — another valuable lesson that originated in the same place where great minds are often born — the classroom.

That being said, Spiro & Associates offers a sincere thank you to Junior Achievement and Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida for inspiring us to participate. We can’t wait for future opportunities to give back and demonstrate that team spirit may start with a unique bowling shirt, but means nothing without someone to bring that giving spirit to life.
